Solid but without being heavy&nbsp;or coarse. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Elegant both standing and&nbsp;moving.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Slightly longer&nbsp;than high, rugged in appearance with a crisp, harsh,&nbsp;semi-long coat and high set ears.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:7px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Characteristics<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lively and alert shepherd dog. Rugged in appearance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Temperament<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Even tempered, neither aggressive, shy nor nervous.&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Obedient, fearless, a natural herder and good guard for&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>home and family.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Head and Skull<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In proportion to size of dog. Seen in profile, skull and muzzle of equal length with parallel planes. Foreface delicately chiselled but not pointed. Seen from front, forehead should not be flat but slightly convex, with the furrow between brow ridges blending smoothly into muzzle. Slightly defined stop midway from occiput to nose. Distinct long eyebrows but not covering the eye. Foreface strong with beard and moustache with thin, tight fitting lips. Nose large, black with well opened nostrils.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eyes<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Horizontally set. Medium size, oval in shape, not prominent. Dark, blending with coat colour, but never lighter than hazel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ears<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>High set, of moderate size, broad base with slightly rounded&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>tips. Always carried naturally erect.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mouth<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jaws strong with a perfect, regular and complete scissor&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>bite, i.e. Upper teeth closely overlapping lower teeth and&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>set square to the jaws.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Neck<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clean, strong and muscular. Of moderate length, blending&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>smoothly into the shoulders, to allow proud head carriage.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Forequarters<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shoulders long and sloping. Elbows well under and close to body. Forearms straight and well muscled. Pasterns sloping slightly.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Body<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Length of the body, from point of shoulder to point of buttock should be marginally longer than the height at the withers. Bitches proportionately slightly longer than dogs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Chest<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reaches elbow which is equidistant from withers and ground. Level topline with well sprung ribs, strong loin and slightly sloping croup. Hind feet positioned&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>just behind a perpendicular line dropped from the point of&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>the rump. Hindlegs parallel when viewed from behind.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Feet<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rounded, short and compact. Firm pads. Dark nails<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tail<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reaching at least to the hock, with slight curve at tip.&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>May be carried high but never over the back. Coat on tail&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>of same length and texture as on body.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gait\/Movement<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fluid, effortless and free, with moderate reach, covering the ground efficiently.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Coat<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Harsh, neither flat nor curled. Crisp to the touch with fine, dense undercoat. Semi-long (5-6cm over all the body including the tail).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Colour<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fawn \u2013 with or without dark overlay<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Brindle \u2013 Slight white mark on forechest and end of feet permitted<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Large white patches undesirable.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Size<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dogs: 60 \u2013 65cms (23\u00bd -25\u00bd ins)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bitches: 55 \u2013 60cms (21\u00be \u2013 23\u00bd ins).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Faults<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Any departure from the foregoing points should be&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>considered a fault and the seriousness with which the&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>to its degree and its effect upon the health and welfare&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>of the dog.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Note:&nbsp;Male animals should have two apparently normal&nbsp;testicles fully descended into the scrotum.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General Appearance Medium sized, well muscled.
